CCHS Center is implementing a pilot project to minimize the impacts of charcoal kilns on the livelihood practices and health of the community in Phu Tan Commune, Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province, Vietnam. The project was funded by Tara Initiative at the European Climate
Foundation.
The Phu Tan Commune has 2,740 households, including 352 charcoal producers and 657 charcoal kilns. Phu Tan Hamlet (the same name as Phu Tan Commune) is the most populous area of charcoal producers with 103 households and 352 burning ovens.
